Interactive Boards
We have recently installed new interactive boards in each classroom. The teachers and pupils are really enjoying using the boards for a myriad of activities.
Digital School Flag
Abbeyleix South National School raised its Digital School of Distinction Award Flag on Wednesday 20th February 2019.
The pupils, staff, parents and friends of Abbeyleix South National School gathered together to celebrate the raising of the school’s Digital School of Distinction Flag.
The Digital School of Distinction Programme promotes, recognises and encourages excellence in the use of technology in Primary Schools and is an award accredited by the Department of Education. Click on the Digital Schools Website for more information. We are one of only 6 schools in County Laois who have been awarded the flag.
Becoming a Digital School of Distinction is a tremendous honour for our school.
The Department of Education’s Digital School’s evaluator, Neil O’Sullivan assessed our performance against the Digital Schools’ criteria in November and commended us on our range of ICT activities. He recognised how the whole school community works together to ensure the use of technology in each classroom. On his visit he provided us with a roadmap for future development to add to our school plan.
The school is extremely well kitted out with interactive whiteboards, digital camera, visualisers and laptops in each classroom. Thanks to our Parents’ Association for its support through their continual fundraising which enables us to purchase more laptops and to continually upgrade them.
