We love writing every day. We have lots of stories written. We have our free writing books and we are using Book Creator to draft our own storybooks.
At present we have developed our skills in writing a recount. We plan first and then we write our recount in stages. First we complete our introduction (answering questions like Who? What? Where? and when?). Then we use the words First, Then, Next , After that and Finally to plan our paragraphs. We are getting really good at creating recounts. Teacher is very proud of us.
Recount writing is a useful way for students to develop storytelling skills while learning how to organize events in a clear sequence. I think focusing on specific details, personal reactions, and logical transitions can make a recount much more engaging than simply listing what happened. It’s also helpful to revise the first draft for clarity and remove unnecessary repetition.
